土を柔らかくする / Making soils softer

ご近所の方がトラクターで耕してくださった後でも、まだ土は固く雨が降るとすぐ固まりました。野菜を育て始める前にもっと柔らかくする必要があると思いました。
すると、小川の向こうに住む別の方が、保存しているもみ殻を使うか?と聞いて下さりました。もちろん、はい!と答え、たくさんのもみ殻を運んで土に混ぜました。これまたかなりの重労働でした。
畑をするのは楽ではないことに気づいてきました…が、とても面白く楽しんでいます!

Even after the neighbor cultivate the soil with his tractor, it was still sticky and easy to harden when it rains. We thought we need to make it softer before starting farming.
Then, another neighbor who lives over the stream offered us if we want to use rice husk he stores. Of course we said Yes, and we mixed a lot amount of rice husk with the soil.
Actually this was very hard work. We were getting realized that farming is not easy but… still interesting!
