物件探し③ 郊外の家 / House Hunting 3: Suburb House

能勢町の物件を見たのと同じ日に、他のニュータウンにある物件も見ました。そのニュータウンは自宅から車で20分ほどで、能勢町の南の山間にあります。街中の駅から直通バスが運行されていますが、50分ほどかかり、1時間に数本しかありません。ニュータウンには家が300軒ほどありました。
私たちがみた家は築30年で、ニュータウンが開発されたときに建てられたものでした。200平米の土地にあり、洋風の外観の2階建てで、2階に3部屋、1階にキッチン、居間、リビング、そして南向きの広めの庭がありました。ハウスメーカーにより建てられた30年ほど前の典型的な郊外の家でした。
持ち主が子供の住む街へ引っ越したため、5年以上空き家となっていましたが、よく手入れされていました。
1200万円で売られていて、私は気に入りました。ずっとマンション育ちで一軒家に住んだことがないので、家庭菜園や花壇を作って楽しむところを想像しました。また、自宅から車で20分ほどの距離にあるため、簡単に行き来できるところもいいと思いました。年老いた両親が近くに住んでいるので、今すぐに遠い田舎へ移住するのは無理ですし、庭を楽しみ、静かな場所でリフレッシュするためであれば、この物件は適していると思いました。
ところが、夫は反対し、なぜ田舎に家が欲しいのか、もう一度よく考えるべきだと言いました。もしこの家を買ったら、私たちの生活はたいして変わらないと。また、このニュータウンは不便な場所にあり、家も汎用的なよくある家なので、20～30年後の家の残存価値はゼロだろう、私たちが能勢の打ち捨てられた物件を見てきたばかりだから、これがとてもよく見えるのではないか、と。
確かにそんな気がするので、引き続き、他の物件を探し続けることにしました。

On the same day we checked properties in Nose, we also went to see a house in another New Town, which is closer to our place, just 20 minutes by car.
The New Town is developed in the mountain located in south of Nose. It has direct bus from the train station in the city although it takes 50 minutes and is only a few in an hour is available. More than 300 houses are in the town.

We visited a house that was built about 30 years ago when the town was developed. The house is on 200 square meters land, having western style appearance, two floors, three bed rooms on the second floor, kitchen, dining room and living room on the ground floor, and wide enough south facing garden. This was built by a general house maker with the prefabricated method and is very typical suburb house at that time.
It has been unoccupied for 5 years as the owner moved to another city where her daughter lives, but was well maintained.

This was being sold for 120,000 USD. I liked this house. I have never lived in a house but an apartment, so I imagined me of enjoying making a kitchen garden and flower bed. Additionally, this house is just 20 minutes by car from our current place, so we can come and go very easily. Our parents are old and living close to us, which makes us difficult to move totally to far countryside now. For the purpose of enjoying garden and having ourselves refreshed in the calm place, this property seemed to be appropriate.

However, my husband disagreed with me. He insisted that we should reconsider why we want to have a country house. If we bought this one, our life would not change that much. Also, the house will not have any residual value 20 or 30 years later because the place is very inconvenient and the house is banal and in everywhere. He said this might look good because we saw this just after we visited abandon ones…
I agreed with him, and we decided to continue to look for other opportunities.
